The scientific discussion about the recent EU Regulation on New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) is far from over. While the Slovak government considers taking legal action against it at the Court of Justice of the EU, the Slovak Academy of Science has published a statement supporting the NGT Regulation. The European Network of Scientists for Social and Environmental Responsibility, however, shows in another statement that there are no scientific arguments that support the NGT Regulation. The Slovak Academy did not provide any scientific arguments to justify its statement. On the contrary, ENSSER says, the existing scientific evidence leads to the conclusion that the NGT Regulation should be withdrawn.
